BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH.–In honor of Michigan’s second-annual Divorce with Respect Week®, March 1-8, 2026, Transitions Legal, a Collaborative Divorce and Mediation law firm, will be offering free, introductory consultations for people considering divorce.
Alisa Peskin-Shepherd, family law attorney, mediator and founder of Transitions Legal, brought Divorce with Respect Week to Michigan in 2025 as a board member of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan (CPIM). Peskin-Shepherd has been practicing Collaborative Divorce and Mediation for decades.

During Divorce with Respect Week®, individuals or couples may speak with participating divorce professionals, including attorneys, financial advisors, and mental-health specialists, for free, to learn more about their options. Collaborative Divorce, a humane, team-oriented approach, involves a team of professionals who together guide a respectful and fluid divorce process. Mediation is another such option.
This year, CPIM Board members, Kendal Rojas, CDFA®, of Center Street Wealth Strategies, and Alicia Schonberger, CFP®/CDFA, from Lylac Divorce Solution are joining Transitions Legal in promoting Divorce with Respect Week.

Divorce With Respect Week, a national initiative first introduced by Collaborative Practice California in 2021, unites divorce professionals throughout the country in raising awareness about Collaborative Divorce as a family-centered alternative to traditional litigation. It has grown into a national movement to help divorcing couples find a less combative way to untie the knot.
Last year, nearly 600 Collaborative professionals participated in Divorce with Respect Week®, and more than 16,000 visitors visited DivorceWithRespectWeek.com.
“Leaning into respectful ways to divorce can minimize the pain and hardship one experiences, and it can make the entire process more efficient, while helping people communicate better post-divorce,” said Peskin-Shepherd.
